I've since learned that the Trance Remixes were created by a fan named Massimo Palumbo, with NO involvement from the KLF or the Orb whatsoever.Steven Worekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17514843809487183547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8361201621081208844.post-59000719383350167552020-05-05T08:21:54.476-07:002020-05-05T08:21:54.476-07:00someone claiming "LX" (Paterson?) said o...someone claiming "LX" (Paterson?) said outright that the Orb didn't make these? I mean, I'm inclined to believe that, but what's the source? (Doncha just love "anonymous" claims like that? lol!)

Marty said that it is more likely Drummond. I'd go with that... or Cauty of course. That Space album Cauty did sure is "ambient" and could work well with Floyd samples. KLF has more of a prankster element than Orb, and I can see those KLF keeping this gag going for years...

has anyone heard the double album Grayfolded by John Oswald? where he was commissioned by the Grateful Dead to edit together something like 200 live versions of their song Dark Star! It's an amazing concept and it works very well as an immersive experience! I wish Gilmore would hire Oswald or someone like him (The Orb!) to officially do the same kinda thing with Floyd's space-era music. 50 versions of Set the Controls edited into a 2 hour trip would be nice, thank you!
mazigazihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00460045828885993834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8361201621081208844.post-8200121864250884782018-04-01T02:41:33.333-07:002018-04-01T02:41:33.333-07:00Hello,

I once saw them many years ago in sales but didn’t dare to buy some, to my late regret. Until, I remember it and make searches on YouTube. And the I discovered what they sounded like … and it was a mixed surprise: some good ideas, some ugly directions, but all in all it was interesting and motivating enough to try it by my own !
Alex WROTEN mixes were not really my cup of tea, but he did it and this encouraged me also.
This began when I observed that the beginning of Dogs Of War was suited for manipulations. Then, I wonder to make the whole album remix, using sometimes just tiny sound fragments of the song but though being fragments, some of the essence of the song remain, at least I believe.
So now, after almost 1 year of working on it, I am happy to say I finished my first « trance remixes », (and an « Ambient remixes » version too), and it begins with the 1987 comeback album, one that is not a fan favorite.
It is the work of Pink Floyd fan, I made it for me too, and of course, I’d be happy if this can help me buy some gear or apps.
https://linearenvironment.bandcamp.com/album/a-momentary-lapse-of-reason-trance-remixes-2017

Cheers,
Eric

Erixoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02105239551564543474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8361201621081208844.post-23824714004515521672017-11-02T02:30:21.682-07:002017-11-02T02:30:21.682-07:00hi,

I came across it in a record store on the gulf coast of Mississippi and it was a big part of my late teens. First, it does NOT sound like the Orb. It's too cut and paste, everything is on the 8 and the sound-layering is not there. It *does* resemble 1987, the JAMs album. Bill Drummond had the Kalevala label which did something similarly odd (fake bands in Finland). These came out a time when copyright laws were relaxes in Germany, Italy, and Australia, and if anything Bill is an astute businessman what with being able to burn a million quid, so I figure if they're the work of someone famous it would be him. He'd have been in a perfect position to do it.Marty Gabrielnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8361201621081208844.post-79660285812405932332013-06-07T23:39:48.475-07:002013-06-07T23:39:48.475-07:00Ok, I follow your logic as far as the "Orb&qu...Ok, I follow your logic as far as the "Orb" trance remixes are concerned. But let me put your mind to rest - LX had nothing to do with these or any other Pink Floyd remixes.
