(D/L) "HOT AS SUN" is here at last!!

[NOTE - From now on, all download posts will begin with "D/L", so folks can find them more easily when looking through the archives! Kai, thx.]

My longtime project, reconstructing the fabled lost Beatles album "Hot As Sun", is complete at last.

Sides A and B are the "Hot As Sun" LP, as described in Rolling Stone's fabricated 1969 article. Sides C and D are the "Hot As Sun Rejects," a number of extra tracks first introduced on the Japanese reconstruction, 'Hot As Sun: Special Bogus Edition'. Nearly every track has been remixed by me in some way - some just slightly, others drastically, even when it came to constructing a brand new take out of numerous fragments.

Now you can enjoy my project once and for all. :-)

SIDE A: www.megaupload.com/?d=9Y3O3ZWV
Track 3 replacement: www.megaupload.com/?d=LB3GT23O

01) Maxwell's Silver Hammer - a brand new take, pieced together from the better portions of numerous "Get Back" era attempts.
02) Don't Let Me Down - an alternate take, combined with a speed-adjusted intro from another take.
03) Hot As Sun - The "Get Back" era performance and the "McCartney" LP version in one happy bundle. (The 'replacement' URL above is the correct version of this track; the original version knocks the second half of the song out of pitch.)
04) Junk - A mono remix and re-edit of the "McCartney" version.
05) Polythene Pam - The lone January 1969 attempt, with all of John's mistakes and pauses seamlessly removed to allow for one complete take.
06) Octopus's Garden - An alternate version, recorded for a George Martin TV special.

SIDE B: www.megaupload.com/?d=61223X8E

07) I Should Like To Live Up A Tree - An unreleased Lennon ditty from the Get Back sessions.
08) Zero Is Just Another Even Number - ...?
09) What's The News Mary Jane - John's unreleased single mix.
10) Dirty Old Man - Better known as 'Mean Mr. Mustard,' of course; this is a Get Back era take, re-edited. (I had to remove the 'Madman' portion, since that song appears much later on the album.)
11) Proud As You Are - Also known as "It's Just For You" or "Song Of Love". A comical Paul improvisation from the Get Back era, with some pauses removed.
12) Watching Rainbows - An unreleased Lennon track, based around the lyrics of "I Am The Walrus" and the riff of "I've Got A Feeling."

SIDE C: www.megaupload.com/?d=52QW46GO

13) My Kind Of Girl - A mono remix of "Oo You" from McCartney. The lyrics of this song are as close to the rumored Beatles cover of Matt Monro's "My Kind Of Girl" as we'll likely ever hear.
14) Suicide - Paul's full-length solo piano performance, kindly provided in the best quality yet by the folks behind the Beatlegs Podcast.
15) You Know My Name - Nothing special, just the Past Masters 2 version. (By this point, the Beatles had already settled on this version as the final product.)
16) Because - A mono remix of the Abbey Road version. Changes are subtle, but effective. The track has a 'mysterious' vibe to it now....
17) Across The Universe - A mono remix of the Past Masters 2/wildlife version, slightly re-arranged to segue into the next track.
18) Lullaby For A Lazy Day - The famous outfake, pitch-shifted to resemble Lennon's voice more closely. Luckily enough, it also matched the key of "Universe", making for a nice medley!

SIDE D: www.megaupload.com/?d=JZCLVJNH

19) Have You Heard The Word? - Another famous outfake, sourced from its only official CD appearance to date, on the Bee Gees' authorized rarities compilation 'Maybe Someone Is Digging Underground.'
20) Madman - A sadly unfinished Lennon rocker from the Get Back sessions. I normalized the volume throughout, and also noted that I edited it in some fashion... though for the life of me, I can't remember where!
21) One After 909 - One of the most entertaining alternate takes, in my opinion; I re-edited it a bit to cover up a handful of goofs and glitches. Shame that John's "CHOO CHOO"s didn't make it into the final version.....
22) Oh! I Had A Dream - A jam with Billy Preston, loosely based around "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". I normalized the volume and edited out a few glitches; but most importantly, I cut two minutes from this repetitive performance.
23) Four Knights In Moscow - The liner notes of the JunkHeadz HAS claimed that this song was unavailable; not true! This rumored Abbey Road outtake title was merely a bootlegger's faux title for Ringo's "Early 1970." I created a mono mix, to fit the rest of the album.

My own homemade front and back covers, as well as an appropriate CD label.

Enjoy!!

Your work here is appreciated. Makes me want to create some more fantasy albums someday (although those will likely be Monkees-related). Thanks again.

Wow: great job, but I am having a problem downloading side d for three days now. The first three times I tried to download it it got stuck at 48 % and I cancelled the downloads (I was stuck for over an hour at the same 48 %. Today I tried again and the download is freezing up at 30%. Thought youd like to know.

What browser are you using? I encounter that problem in Internet Explorer, but I've never had it in Firefox.

Also, are you on a PC or a Mac?

Steve, I am on a PC, and yes I am using MSIE, but explain why I had no problem with sides a-c, but a streak of no luck that continues only with your side d ? I don't think its MS, Thanks, Steve (that's my name too)

Tell you what, forget about Megaupload; later today I'll throw side D onto my Mediafire account.

You should have better luck there.

Thank You Steve... great rarity compilation creation. Should we call you "Purple Dude" or "Master Worek" ?

Oh, I wouldn't say it's a "rarity compilation" really... I did manufacture quite a few of the tracks. :-) Compiled bits and pieces of rarities, more like.
